Kris Valentine

On-Air: Weekdays 2pm – 7pm

Kris is a seasoned radio professional, Midwest lifer, and the only on-air personality to return to St. Cloud so many times that locals assume he has a punch card. After traveling the country for radio, Cedar Rapids, Colorado Springs, Denver, Portland, OR, Minneapolis, Alexandria, and back again (and again), Kris has finally accepted the truth: this is home, and Wild Country 99 is where he belongs.

He currently hosts afternoons alongside his co-host and real-life wife, Chelsea, a bold experiment in relationship science that has somehow not resulted in a restraining order. They talk for a living, then go home and continue talking, making them either soulmates or a sociological case study. Somehow, against all odds, they still like each other.

Kris lives in St. Cloud with Chelsea, two dogs (Daisy and Delilah), and a vacuum cleaner that has officially given up. He is also a proud dad to two daughters, Abigail and Kaitlyn, who have mastered the art of eye-rolling at an elite level.

When he’s not on the air, Kris enjoys watching history documentaries, a bold choice for someone who nearly failed history in high school. He also watches cooking competition shows solely to criticize the contestants and HGTV, where he studies home renovations he has no intention of ever attempting.

Fake But Totally Real Facts About Kris:
  • Has said “this meeting could’ve been an email” during meetings
  • Refers to Chelsea as “right” in public and “technically right” in private
  • Believes every documentary “confirms what he already suspected”
  • Has strong opinions on things he learned about 12 minutes ago
  • Can sense when Chelsea is about to roast him… and walks into it anyway
  • Claims he doesn’t like attention, despite hosting a radio show

After years of therapy, travel, and questionable career decisions, Kris has finally landed exactly where he belongs, playing country music, hanging out with you every afternoon, and somehow getting paid to talk. Catch him along with Chelsea weekdays from 2–7 pm on Wild Country 99…or out in the wild at a station event, wondering why he didn’t bring sunscreen.

Chelsea Valentine

On-Air: Weekdays 2pm – 7pm

“Life can be a wild ride, but the music makes the dust settle a little easier.”
Chelsea Valentine is a firm believer that if you aren’t wearing a little dirt from the trail or humming a country tune, you’re doing it wrong. A lifelong horse lover and performer, Chelsea’s life has always had a soundtrack; in her world, the radio isn’t just background noise—it’s the heartbeat of the home.

Chelsea spent years in the high-stakes world of “breaking news,” anchoring and reporting from the fast-paced streets of D.C. and Seattle back to the familiar lakes of Minnesota. She’s seen the “tough stuff” firsthand—fighting through her own battle with cancer and standing up for victims of crime in rural MN. She’s dealt with the heavy, the hard, and the BLEEP moments of life. But those experiences didn’t harden her; they just gave her a better reason to laugh.

In 2020, Chelsea decided to trade the police scanners for artist interviews, realizing that while she still loves a good story, she’d much rather share the ones that lift people up. She traded hard news for the common threads we all share: the love of a good song, the bond of a community, and the hope that keeps us moving.
The best part of the story? Jumping into radio led her straight to her “fearless leader” and husband, Kris Valentine. Today, they’re the duo of Central MN, broadcasting alongside their two official station mascots (and dogs), Daisy and Delilah. Chelsea is humbled to be your daily escape, proving every day that no matter what you’ve been through, there is always room for more hope, more laughter, and a heck of a lot more country music.
